Introduction to Rural Development: Introduction, rural economy of India, measures of development, some paradigms of rural development, determinants of rural development,  strategies for sustainable development, equity- oriented and growth- oriented programmes, planning for rural development, financing rural development, implementation monitoring and evaluation.

Rural Economy: Introduction to rural economics, rural resources and rural development theories, rural demography and occupational structure, rural empowerment programmes, components rural economy, concept of natural resources.

Research Methodologies in Rural Development: Social research methods, need for research in rural development, specific areas of research in rural development, concept and understanding of research, processing of data.

Agricultural Development: Crop husbandry in pre- independent India, animal husbandry in pre- independent India, natural resource management in pre-independent India, international and national collaborations in agricultural research and development, investment policy and entrepreneurial ecosystem for agricultural development, leadership in agricultural research in independent India.

Rural Entrepreneurship: Introduction, role of rural entrepreneurs in economic development, major benefits from rural entrepreneurship, types of rural entrepreneurship, challenges faced by rural entrepreneurship in India.
