Introduction to Carpentry: Carpentry tools, wood for carpentry work, nails, hinges and fixing material, wood work joints, doors and windows, aluminium sliding windows, glazing, slope roof and false ceiling, lamination.
Basic Carpentry Techniques: Hardwood and softwood trees, Size and selection of sawn timber, Wood-rotting fungi, Paint and varnishes, Methods applying preservatives, Health and safety, Veneer plywood, Fibre cement building boards, Holding equipment (tools & devices), Base materials.
Advanced Carpentry Skills: Role and Responsibilities of a Shuttering Carpenter, Hand and Power Tools Used in Shuttering Carpentry Works, Measuring Instruments Used by Shuttering Carpenter, Handling and Maintenance of Tools, Making of Wooden Shutter, Effective Communication and Teamwork.
Specialized Carpentry Techniques: Introduction, tools and equipment, hand cutter, hand router/ trimmer, drill machine, hand grinder, extension power cable, safety glasses, safety gloves, safety shoes.
Types of work and Working Procedure: Introduction, objectives, sawing, planing, chiseling, boring, striking, sharpening.
Joints in Carpentry Work: Introduction, objectives, classification, lengthening/widening joints, framing joints, preparation of timber and marking joint.
