Engineering Drawing: Introduction, role of engineering drawing, drawing sheet, dimensioning, reducing and enlarging scales, types of scales, types of projections, methods of development, principle of isometric projections, advantages of CAD.
Production Technology: Introduction, investment casting process, classification of welding processes, welding current and voltage ranges for mild steel electrodes, welding defects, strengthening/hardening mechanisms, effects of elevated temperature on stain hardened materials, existing manufacturing and modern industry demand.
Material Technology: Introduction, manufacturing process, welding process, gas welding, pattern materials, pattern colour code, moulding materials, other types of moulding sands, fundamental of metal casting, types of casting process, classification of welding processes, inspection and testing of welding.
Press Tool Theory: Introduction to press tools, stock material, theory of shearing, cutting force, cutting clearance, basic design of guide plate, elements of guide plate tool, land and angular clearance, progressive tool, strip layouts, punches and buckling of punches, die blocks.
Die Casting Theory: Introduction, basic fluid mechanics, dimensional analysis, fundamentals of pipe flow, flow in open channels, critical slow plunger velocity, venting system design.
Press Tool & Mould Design: Introduction, from quotation to a finished tool, process planning, entrance and exit of cut, ramping and circular interpolation, methods for machining for corners, methods for machining of a cavity, cutting fluid in milling, coating methods, cutting tools, drilling tools for die and moulds.
