Role of a Solar Panel Installation Technician: Introduction to solar energy conversion, fundamentals of solar radiation, solar thermal collectors, thermal energy storage and transport, solar heating systems, solar cooling and dehumidification, solar thermal power, photovoltaics, solar photochemical applications.
Solar PV Essentials: Introduction, electricity generation with solar cells, photovoltaic energy equipment: general characteristics and costs, PV modules, Inverters, energy storage, photovoltaic generation potential in Puerto rico, grid- tied PV economic feasibility, grid- interconnection issues.
Assessing site conditions understanding installation requirements: General information, limitation of liability, safety precautions, mechanical/ electrical specification, unpacking and storage, module installation, module wiring, grounding, mounting instructions, mounting method: bolting, maintenance.
Collecting the materials for installation: Basic of electrical and electronic concepts, basics solar energy, basic of solar photovoltaic systems, tools and equipment used for solar PV installation, site survey, mounting structure and installation of solar PV system, test, commission and maintenance of solar PV system, prepare BOM, maintain personal health &safety at project site.
