Introduction to Fashion and Design: Importance of occupational health and safety, general safety rules in fashion design industry, personal protective equipment for fashion design/apparel industry, tools and equipment used for fashion designing, evolution of fashion, basics of drawing, different colour terms for developing designs, basic fashion sketches.
Fashion Illustration and Technical Drawings: Introduction, types of fashion drawing, tools for sketching and illustration, pencil and brush strokes, application of colour schemes in dress designing, port folio presentation.
Garment Manufacturing Technology: Introduction, pattern making, garment sampling, fabric development, bulk fabric and trims procurement, fabric cutting process, garment printing and embroidery, garment stitching, garment washing, garment finishing process, garment folding and packing.
Pattern Drafting: History of fashion designing, garment details, body type, sewing machine & practice, common machine problems, pattern terminology, sewing aids, needle and thread, basic hand stitches, fibres and gabrics, sports and stain removal, garment fitting, measure from a garment, high neck blouse, princess line kameez.
