73.47 Lakh Candidates Trained Under PMKVY

New Delhi: Under the Skill India Mission, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is implementing a flagship scheme called the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 2016-20 with an objective to provide skilling to one crore youth under Short Term Training (STT) courses and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) across the country in a four years period i.e. 2016-2020. Under PMKVY (2016-20), as on 17.01.2020, 73.47 lakh (appx.) (40.27 lakh STT + 33.20 lakh RPL) candidates have been trained/oriented throughout the country. The State/UT-wise number of candidates trained / oriented under PMKVY (2016-20) is given at Annexure. Under PMKVY 2016-20, focus on employment has been significantly enhanced and candidates have been placed in various sectors and industries. Over 69 lakh skilled under PMKVY, Rs 5,100 crore allocated

To implement the skill training programmes, a total of Rs 5,034.44 crore has been disbursed under the NSDC, while for CSCM component Rs 808.96 crore has been disbursed to state governments. Under the Skill India Mission’s Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), the government has trained 69.03 lakh people across India. The data was provided by Minister of State in Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, RK Singh while answering a question in Parliament. Replying to another question, Singh informed that 9,28,884 and 2,69,054 candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) category were trained under the PMKVY 2016-20, respectively. Across the country, 33,88,235 candidates have enrolled in short-term training courses of which 14,05,369 got placement. Under Prior Learning initiatives of the ministry, a total of 32,10,783 candidates across India have been enrolled of which 22,52,506 were certified.
