Plant Science for Gardeners: Introduction to horticulture, importance of horticulture crops, principles of horticulture crop production technology, principles of plant propagation, methods of propagation for horticulture crops, essential plant nutrients, their deficiency symptoms and toxicities in horticulture crops, organic and inorganic manures and their methods of application in horticulture crops, water management in horticulture crops.
Soils and Plant Growth: Introduction, measurement Growth, phases of Growth, endogenous Growth regulators, lateral Growth in a plant, physiological effects of ethylene, Growth responses to exogenous factors, seed germination and dormancy, vernalization.
Plant Propagation: Types propagation: sexual propagation, asexual propagation, root cutting & tubers, leaf cutting, runners & offsets, rooting stemp cutting, rooting media, rooting hormone, stock plant, care of rooted, propagation bar hardwood cutting.
Entomology for Gardeners: Basic of classification, insect from and structure- morphology, insect development- metamorphosis, types of insect injury, insects as disseminators of plant diseases, benefits and value of insects, pesticides.
