Syllabus

Introduction to Refrigeration and Air Conditioning: Introduction, refrigerating machine and reversed carnot cycle, vapour compression system, refrigerants, multipressure systems, refrigerant compressors, gas cycle refrigeration.

HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and air Conditioning): Introduction, thermodynamics and psychrometrics, basic HVAC calculations, design conditions, load estimating fundamentals, energy estimating methods, duct and pipe sizing, air conditioning system concepts, hydronic heating and cooling system design.

Air Conditioning Systems: Introduction to HVAC, classification of air-conditioning system, load calculation, static pressure calculation.

Refrigerants and their Management: Conventional refrigerants and refrigeration technologies in India, types of refrigerants available and compatible technologies, environmental and safety implications, vapor absorption systems, direct/indirect evaporative cooling, comparison between conventional & natural refrigerant based technologies, sectorial potential of natural refrigerants.

Electrical Fundamentals for RAC: Psychrometry, basic electricity and electric motor, air conditioning equipments, window air conditioner, inverter split air conditioner, heat load calculations, special air conditioning applications, refrigeration & air conditioning controls.

Fundamentals of Refrigeration Systems: Fundamentals of thermpdynamics, system and energy, internal energy, heat engines and reversed heat engines, vapour compression cycles, vapour compression system modelling, vapour absorption system modelling.
