Objective: The primary goal is to provide students with the technical skills and knowledge to become proficient in tailoring. The course equips students with the ability to create custom-made clothing, alter existing garments, and understand fabric properties and stitching techniques.

Syllabus
Tools & Equipment: Hand machine, foot machine, ordinary scissors, shears, marking chalk, thimble, hand needles, cruel needle, darning needle, hand needles.
Machinery: Balance wheel, disconnecting screw, stop motion screw, presser foot, presser foot lifter, needle plate, needle clamp screw, thread guide, presser bar screw, bobbin case, tension angle, shuttle, rubber ring.
Sewing Techniques: French curves, pencil & sharpener, tracing wheel, straight metre scale, paper scissors, fabric scissors, hip curve, triangle, scotch tape.
Methods of Finishing: Introduction, objective, marking, precautions while laying out, margins, principle of lay out, finishing.
Measuring: Introduction, objective, using the inch- tape for measuring, measuring correctly, precautions while taking measurements, use of scale, sequence of taking measurements.
Stitching: Introduction, objective, meaning of stitches, need for stitches, types use and method of marking stitches, decorative stitches.
