Syllabus
Fundamentals of Psychology: Nature of psychology, development of psychology as a discipline, major psychological perspectives, relationship of psychology with other disciplines, fields of psychology, current trends: the changing face of psychology.
Research Methodology & Statistics: Goals of psychological studies and research, basic and applied research, psychological tools, need of statistics in psychology, some basic statistical concept, experimental method, non- experimental methods.
Clinical Psychology: Working with children and families, working with adult in psychological difficulty, working with people with disabilities and physical health problems, current professional issues in clinical psychology.
Counselling Psychology: Introduction/helping/basic/ of helping, objective, role of beliefs, values, norms and moral principles in the helping process, focus on client and context-what client brings in session, role of formal and informal helpers, key ingredients of successful helping, helping clients redo poor decisions and make and execute life- enhancing decisions.
Counselling and Health Psychology: Introduction, types of health psychology, health psychologist roles, need and significance, disease, Illness, types by body system, Quality of life, terminologies.
Psychology & its applications: Evolution, heredity and environment, cell as the basic unit of life, the neuron, types of neuron, nervous system, the central nervous systems (CNS), the endocrine system, Genetic influences on behavior, the process of socialization and acculturation.
