Overview of Production Management: Organization functional areas are, deciding whether to buy or make, deciding to specialize or generalize, implementing the plan, designing and controlling work, controlling production: quantity and quality.
Plant Location and Facility Layout: Introduction and meaning, need for selecting a suitable location, factors influencing plant/facility location, location theories, location models, locational economics, plant layout, classification of layout, design of product layout, design of process layout, service layout, organisation of physical facilities.
Project Management: Introduction, project definition, project life cycle, project classification, technical analysis, financial analysis, project management.
Forecasting: Material planning, moving averages method, weighted moving average in forecasting techniques, exponential smoothing, past consumption analysis.
Control Function in Production Management: Functional areas, production/operations management, hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP), total quality management, core concepts for TQM.
Scheduling and Sequencing: Introduction, situations requiring scheduling, classifying production systems, scheduling mass production systems, scheduling batch production systems, scheduling job shop production systems, general principles of scheduling.
