Introduction to Organic Waste Management: Introduction, waste collection and transport, waste recovery and treatment, waste disposal, organic waste management, waste management hierarchy, waste recovery and treatment.
Organic Waste Collection and Segregation: Coupling home composting with gardening/ organic farming, recycling non biodegradable waste, operational model, standard operating procedure for campaign.
Organic Waste Treatment Technologies: Introduction, problems and need for waste recycling, objectives and scope of organic waste recycling, agro- industrial waste waters, pollution caused by human wastes and other waste waters, biochemical reactions, environmental requirements, public health aspects of composting, modes of operation and types of biogas digesters, ethanol production.
Waste Generation and Composition: Introduction, biodegradable waste management, material processing, plastic waste management, sanitary waste management, e- waste management.
Legislation and Policies in Organic Waste Management: Definition of waste, classification and sources of waste, environment (protection) act, 1986, waste management rules/policies, strategies for waste management, waste processing and treatment, municipal solid waste, plastic waste, industrial hazardous waste, biomedical waste, e- waste.
