Course Name: Diploma in IP-based Surveillance and Network Security
Course Id: DISNS/Q1001.
Eligibility: 10th Grade (high School) or equivalent.
Objective: The main objective is to train skilled technicians capable of bridging physical security and IT networking. Students will acquire expertise in network fundamentals, the installation and configuration of Network Video Recorders ($\text{NVR}$s) and cameras, and advanced video management systems (). A critical focus is on implementing cybersecurity measures—such as firewalls and strong authentication—to protect the surveillance network and ensure the integrity and confidentiality of video data.
Duration: Six Months.

Online Examination Detail:
- Duration- 120 minutes.
- No. of Questions- 60. (Multiple Choice Questions).
- 10 Questions from each module, each carry 10 marks.
- Maximum Marks- 600, Passing Marks- 40%.

Module 1: Fundamentals of IP Surveillance Systems Introduction to Network Video and Digital Surveillance, Analog vs. Digital/IP System Comparison, Components of an IP Video System (IP Cameras, NVR, VMS), IP Camera Types, Sensors, and Resolution Standards (Megapixel), Video Compression Techniques (H.264, H.265, MJPEG), Power over Ethernet (PoE) Standards and Functionality, Bandwidth and Storage Calculation for IP Video, Understanding Frame Rate and Shutter Speed, Illumination, WDR, and Smart IR Technology, Cloud-Based and Hybrid Surveillance Solutions.
Module 2: Core Networking Principles for IP Video Introduction to the OSI Model and TCP/IP Stack, IP Addressing (IPv4/IPv6), Subnetting, and CIDR Notation, Network Topologies (Star, Mesh, Bus) and their Application, Configuring Routers, Switches, and Gateways, Network Protocols essential for CCTV (RTSP, HTTP, DNS, DHCP), Quality of Service (QoS) for Video Prioritization, Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) for Network Segmentation, Remote Access Technologies (VPN, Port Forwarding, NAT), Wireless Networking (Wi-Fi, Mesh) for Surveillance, Troubleshooting Network Latency and Jitter.
Module 3: IP Camera and NVR/VMS Configuration IP Camera Initial Setup and Configuration via Web Interface, Setting Static and Dynamic IP Addresses for Devices, Onvif Standard and Device Interoperability, NVR/VMS Software Installation and Licensing, User Management and Access Control within the VMS, Configuring Recording Schedules and Event Triggers, Setting Up Motion Detection and Video Analytics on Camera/Server, Alarm Integration and Notification Setup, Backup, Archiving, and Exporting Digital Video Evidence, System Health Monitoring and Diagnostics Tools.
