Introduction to the Study of English Language: English of teaching, language acquisition and teaching methodologies, English pronunciation, teaching grammar and vocabulary, the fundamental pedagogies of teaching listening, approaches of reading, English oral training, language assessment.
Structure of English Language: Orientation, physiology of speech, the morphology of English, language style, varieties of English, pragmatics.
Instructional Methodologies for English Language: Introduction, objectives, historical background of English in India, objectives of teaching English at secondary level, the various methods and approaches, the structural approach, nature of reading, development of writing skills, intensive reading, general aims of teaching prose, the steps involved in teaching prose.
A study in English Grammar: Parts of speech, Noun, Pronoun, adjective, verb, adverb, Preposition, interjection, Conjunction, sentence making, Direct speech, Punctuation.
Teaching English at Primary and Secondary Level: Introduction, objectives, meaning characteristics, function of language, principles of language teaching, nature of English language, aims and objectives of teaching English in India.
