Syllabus
Introduction to Plastics and Polymers: Addition polymerization, linear, branched, and cross- linked polymers, impact modifiers and tougheners, testing of plastics, mechanical property testing of plastics, thermal property testing of plastics.
Plastic Molding Processes: Introduction, plastic material, project methodology, solid modeling of the rotor and cover, solid modeling of the mould, design of feed system, design of cooling system, mould fabrication, cost estimation.
Quality Control and Testing: Hardness of polymers, tensile properties of plastics, flexural properties of plastic, abrasion resistance of plastic, heat distortion temperature of plastic, specific gravity and density of plastics.
Sustainability in Plastic Molding: Plastics and their role in our lives, implementation of PWM in a city, finance and sustainability of a PWM working model, social inclusion of waste pickers.
Material Selection and Behavior: Introduction, material cycle of plastic, plastic production, consumption, disposal and leakage trends, policy ban on plastic bags and other single use plastic item in India, waste depository schemes in countries other than India, recycling of plastic.
Mold Design Construction Plastic: Types of plastics flow of plastic in mold, foam plastics, decorative techniques for plastics, in mold decoration, post molding process, printing, hot stamping.
