Course Id: CFET/Q0001.
Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent.
Objective: The Certified Fire Extinguisher Technician course is designed to provide participants with the practical skills and technical knowledge required to install, inspect, recharge, and maintain different types of portable fire extinguishers. The course covers extinguisher classifications (Class A, B, C, D, and K), operation mechanisms, selection based on fire risk, hydrostatic testing, tagging and record-keeping, and safety precautions during handling and servicing.
Duration: Three Month.
How to Enroll and Get Certified in Your Chosen Course:
Step 1: Choose the course you wish to get certified in.
Step 2: Click on the “Enroll Now” button.
Step 3: Proceed with the enrollment process.
Step 4: Enter your billing details and continue to course fee payment.
Step 5: You will be redirected to the payment gateway. Pay the course and exam fee using one of the following methods:
Debit/Credit Card, Wallet, Paytm, Net Banking, UPI, or Google Pay.
Step 6: After successful payment, you will receive your study material login ID and password via email within 48 hours of fee payment.
Step 7: Once you complete the course, take the online examination.
Step 8: Upon passing the examination, you will receive:
• A soft copy (scanned) of your certificate via email within 7 days of examination.
• A hard copy (original with official seal and signature) sent to your address within 45 day of declaration of result.
Step 9: After certification, you will be offered job opportunities aligned with your area of interest.

Duration- 60 minutes.
No. of Questions- 30. (Multiple Choice Questions).
Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 40%.
There is no negative marking in this module.

Module 1: Introduction to Fire Safety and Fire Extinguishers: Basics of fire science and fire classification (Class A, B, C, D, K), Role and importance of fire extinguishers in initial fire response, Types of fire extinguishers and their applications, Components and functioning of common extinguisher types, Responsibilities of a Fire Extinguisher Technician, Overview of fire safety codes and standards (IS 2190, NFPA 10).
Module 2: Types, Selection, and Placement of Fire Extinguishers: Detailed study of water, foam, CO₂, dry chemical, and clean agent extinguishers, Criteria for extinguisher selection based on fire risk and location, Understanding ratings (A-B-C-D-K) and color codes, Guidelines for correct placement and mounting height, Accessibility, signage, and quantity per area coverage, Common placement errors and corrective measures.
Module 3: Inspection and Maintenance Procedures: Visual inspection checklist and defect identification, Monthly and annual maintenance requirements, Checking pressure gauge, nozzle, hose, safety pin, and seals, Recordkeeping and maintenance tagging procedures, Ensuring compliance with IS and NFPA inspection schedules, Documentation and reporting of service findings.
Module 4: Refilling, Recharging, and Hydrotesting: Understanding extinguisher refilling procedures for various types, Use of tools, materials, and refilling machines, Safe depressurization and discharge practices, Steps in recharging extinguishers after use or servicing, Hydrostatic testing procedure and frequency, Ensuring quality control and post-refill verification.
Module 5: Fire Extinguisher Installation and Demonstration: Proper installation techniques and mounting requirements, Installing wall brackets, cabinets, and vehicle-mounted units, Conducting live demonstrations for users and clients, Training on PASS technique and fire response protocols, Communicating limitations of extinguishers in large fires, Role of technician in client awareness and safety promotion.
Module 6: Regulatory Compliance, Safety, and Professional Ethics: Applicable national and international codes (IS 2190, NFPA 10), Legal requirements for inspection, servicing, and certification, Workplace safety practices during maintenance and refilling, Handling pressurized cylinders and extinguishing agents safely, Ethical responsibilities in service accuracy and reporting, Case studies on extinguisher failures and technician accountability.
