Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent.

Objective: The Certified Confined Space Supervisor course is designed to provide comprehensive training on managing and supervising work in confined spaces such as tanks, silos, tunnels, and pipelines. The course covers confined space identification, hazard recognition (toxic gases, oxygen deficiency, engulfment, etc.), atmospheric testing, ventilation methods, entry permits, and emergency rescue planning. 

Duration: Three Month.

Module 1: Introduction to Confined Spaces and Supervisor Responsibilities: Definition and classification of confined spaces, Characteristics and hazards of confined spaces (toxic, flammable, oxygen-deficient), Legal and regulatory requirements (OSHA, IS, Factories Act), Duties and responsibilities of a Confined Space Supervisor, Differences between confined space entrant, attendant, and supervisor roles, Overview of confined space entry procedures and documentation.

Module 2: Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Permit System: Types of confined space hazards (atmospheric, physical, biological, mechanical), Conducting Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems for confined space operations, Isolation of energy sources: Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, Monitoring and controlling entry and exit of personnel, Pre-entry checklists and permit validation process.

Module 3: Atmospheric Testing and Ventilation Procedures: Air monitoring for oxygen level, toxic gases, and flammables, Use of gas detectors and calibration requirements, Acceptable limits and response to abnormal readings, Ventilation techniques: mechanical, natural, forced air systems, Placement of equipment for effective air circulation, Supervisor’s role in ensuring continuous monitoring.
