Centre reviews skill development & entrepreneurship initiatives with states

New Delhi: The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) organized a day-long consultative workshop on 18 February, with representatives from States and Union Territories, to review skill development across geographies and segments and to seek their valuable suggestions on streamlining the upcoming initiatives. The key thrust of the workshop was to increase the participation of the District Committees for better coordination of the skill efforts in each district and to achieve the broader objectives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India the skill capital of the world. 73.47 Lakh Candidates Trained Under PMKVY

New Delhi: Under the Skill India Mission, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is implementing a flagship scheme called the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 2016-20 with an objective to provide skilling to one crore youth under Short Term Training (STT) courses and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) across the country in a four years period i.e. 2016-2020. Over 69 lakh skilled under PMKVY, Rs 5,100 crore allocated

To implement the skill training programmes, a total of Rs 5,034.44 crore has been disbursed under the NSDC, while for CSCM component Rs 808.96 crore has been disbursed to state governments. HRD Ministries in talks to set up skill hubs in schools

The Ministry of Skill Development
and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is in talks with the Ministry of Human Resource
Development (MHRD) to create ‘Hubs of Excellence in Skills’ in schools for
students from class 9 to 12. The objective of the proposed initiative is to
impart skills to students at an early stage. Tech-oriented

hubs will introduce technology-oriented skill programmes in schools. One hub
school will focus on one particular skill and cater to 4-5 schools nearby. “The idea is to link the Samagra
Shiksha Abhiyan scheme with the skilling ecosystem to have a
