Over 69 lakh skilled under PMKVY, Rs 5,100 crore allocated

To implement the skill training programmes, a total of Rs 5,034.44 crore has been disbursed under the NSDC, while for CSCM component Rs 808.96 crore has been disbursed to state governments. Under the Skill India Mission’s Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), the government has trained 69.03 lakh people across India. The data was provided by Minister of State in Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, RK Singh while answering a question in Parliament. Replying to another question, Singh informed that 9,28,884 and 2,69,054 candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) category were trained under the PMKVY 2016-20, respectively. Across the country, 33,88,235 candidates have enrolled in short-term training courses of which 14,05,369 got placement. Under Prior Learning initiatives of the ministry, a total of 32,10,783 candidates across India have been enrolled of which 22,52,506 were certified. HRD Ministries in talks to set up skill hubs in schools

The Ministry of Skill Development
and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is in talks with the Ministry of Human Resource
Development (MHRD) to create ‘Hubs of Excellence in Skills’ in schools for
students from class 9 to 12. The objective of the proposed initiative is to
impart skills to students at an early stage. Tech-oriented

hubs will introduce technology-oriented skill programmes in schools. One hub
school will focus on one particular skill and cater to 4-5 schools nearby. “The idea is to link the Samagra
Shiksha Abhiyan scheme with the skilling ecosystem to have a
greater integration of education and skills. We have offered MHRD, if we can be
part of the skilling component in schools and provide students hands on
training under the students,” said a source. Under

Skill Development Minister announces IndiaSkills 2020

New Delhi: Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has announced the opening of online registrations for IndiaSkills 2020, a biennial competition to scout talent from the country, offering them a platform to showcase their skills at national and international competitions. Targeted PMKVY, skills framework rejig proposed

“Going forward NSDC (National Skills Development Corporation) will cease to play the role of an implementor of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and focus on its other three roles,” the ministry has said in its draft vision document. NEW DELHI: The government plans to revamp its skills framework, including a more targeted Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and setting up of a dedicated national institute of skill development to centralise skill training and funding. The proposals form part of the skill development and entrepreneurship ministry’s Vision 2025 to help substantially enhance the scale of skilling in the country in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India the skills capital of the world, a senior official said.
